Hello I would like to share some suggestions on how to make the Steam Machine project a success (not weakly that was 6 years ago).
Then, of course, the progress of more games ported to Linux, more integrations with Vulkan, with 99% of the rest that has not yet been natively supported for linux to be able to run on linux, even if it uses denuovo or any anti-cheater system we already know that you are focusing on this). But let's go to the points that we have not had progress in the project yet.
Step 1: Allow direct streaming of the platform on Youtube and or Twitch.
Yes, we know you have a streaming system of your own but unfortunately it's not what the audience wants.
Not bad, it is cool to have a native streaming mode of the platform but this does not have a good acceptance who uses and is competing system.
It turns out that the main influencing gamers are not interested in a platform that does not offer freedom of choice for them to transmit.
The real gamers are either on the twitch or youtube using direct broadcast or PS4, xbox one and Nintendo Switch direct THROUGH video game of them on whatever platform they want and think it is better.
The youtubers usually use post editing most of the time, so it would be nice to have an internal editing system available (integrated with the adobe premiere, on the system or mode of exporting on the pendrive the editing files.
Allowing youtube and twitch delivery and editing software straight into the system IS THE WAY.
Step 2: Sell and ship Steam machines INSIDE STEAM STORE, not only tird-parties store.
When I saw the Steam Machines I thought that Steam would UNIFY THE SALES of consoles from within the Steam platform.
I thought I could buy a Dell Allienware from within Steam only if the links did not work.
When I entered the Dell store, I was not available for purchase, and I was in Brazil working from allienware that is located in the United States. There were no stores selling outside the United States and Europe.
The lack of a heavy hand from Valve to organize the sales logistics, unification of sales very much disrupted the console.
Step 3: Competitive pricing, and more current and clearly informed hardware.
At the time they were selling the Steam MAchines, there was a lot of store that did not report hardware specifications and no information about the video card.
Allienware / DELL Steam Machines sold by chance were more expensive on the market and did not make up for switching a PS4 to a Steam Machine (PS4 that was released in 2013).
The Dell Steam Machines came with a GTX960 down, it was pretty bad for what I already had in the console market.
Step 4: Allow a number of game licenses to be included within the Steam machines sold.
Imagine I can buy a Steam Machine console with a Shadow of Middle Earth and tombRaidr (2013) included as a gift
Step 5: UNIFY COMMERCIAL MARKETING on all TVs, youtube channels, sales outlets like wall mart and etc.
Having not only commercials but like consoles in TOTENS (see in this video (video begins in 2:41 ) for people to test the console, this is of interest to the general public.
A good TV commercial, mostly exhibiting in the striking and unified superbowl made exclusively with VALVE.
A well done, well produced commercial give a greater sense of credibility.
A good soundtrack helps a lot.

Having real people playing the video game in the commercial gives a greater approximation with the player
( see this vídeo )
This is how Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo increase the hype for people to buy their video games.
Step 6: Allow the option of the Steam Machine buyer can choose either a Steam Controller or another game pad such as the F310 or F710 from Logitech
Step 7: Include a minimal form of third-party multimedia in the system.
Integration with Netflix, spotfy the system.
Not an mp3 system structure as you have built-in but third party software. A minimal integration of some android apps would solve the problem.
I know you've recently removed the Steam movie store, which is really unnecessary, in which case Netflix would solve the problem.
Step 8: Allow virtual reality kit sales on console sold at a very competitive price
Step 9: Allow third-party DRM on the platform.
Origin, UPLAY and even more extreme situations like EPIC, GOG, Battle.Nete Bathesda Launcher. Gabe had already spoken in favor of this ...
Step 10: Allow instant third-party chatters from games like discord on the platform
