Why do you hate us Nvidia. I'm sorry you're having issues with your card, man.
Adam-Stambaugh Actually nVidia drivers give me the better performance compared to Nouveau.
Adam-Stambaugh are you sure they aren't being software rendered?
Sorry what do you mean by that mate?
joe213 That it's your CPU handling the rendering. Generic Windows drivers will do that for unsupported cards, if I remember correctly. That might be why you get better performance on Windows without installing the drivers.
Adam-Stambaugh But how is it that Linux lags even with nVidia drivers installed? But Windows runs fine with or without nVidia drivers?
Linux wont care if you have nVidia drivers installed if you are not explicitly telling the system to use them. You can have nVidia drivers installed and still be using nouveau if you havent set the config correctly
Kocytean I actually changed to nVidia drivers, I made sure of that.
One strange thing, I made a post https://forum.heavyelement.io/d/700-systemd about how Devaun Linux seems to be the only distro that doesn't lag on my PC, even without nVidia drivers installed and I ran it in live session. Devaun Linux doesn't have systemd, can systemd cause performance issues or performance hit?
joe213 Anything is possible. One way to investigate would be to try one of the other distro's that does not use systemd and see if your results replicate.
options include Void, Slackware, Gentoo, Knoppix and Alpine flavours.
Kocytean Will do bro thanks 🙂 THe ones that you mentioned, which one is the best?
WHat is systemd I don't fully understand it?
Kocytean I tried MX Linux and that doens't use SystemD by defeault and it was still laggy when using firefox. Not too sure what is going on.
joe213 If its just firefox try disabling hardware acceleration
Kocytean I tried to run a Godot game spinning cube in other Linux distros it lags, Windows 7 just runs fine on it.
