Should it be compared to Linux in the first place?
It's open source fair enough, but the kernel is a reimagined NT as far as I can see. The question you should be asking is "does the operating system operate the system" and in a reasonable response, I would say no, not yet. If you want something stable and tested to destruction, have a look at anything based on Debian or Red Hat then install Wine on it.
That's not to say the project wont be useful and could help out the Wine project while creating a viable alternative in the future, however we aren't in that future yet. I hope they do great things because a variant of a Win7 iso, thats only 300Mb and runs as a live USB could be pretty useful and cool if DX12 runs on it.
I really really really really hope they include all the adverts from windows 10 and the stability from Win ME and the DX compatibility from Win NT4 and the Super Nanny from Win 8 and the USB support from Win 95a.
That would make my decision to switch from windows even more entertaining.
